What is Unusual Orthodoxy?
Unusual Orthodoxy began when I was looking through holiday photos from a recent trip to Malaysia and Singapore. What struck me was how telling they were of the human experience. I realised that I had taken a lot of photographs of things that summoned a strong emotional response: pain, anguish, happiness, relief. I could not help but think that human beings make their own identities not from external sources but from within themselves. So I decided to start Unusual Orthodoxy.
I’ve always wondered how much we can define our own identity. Unusual Orthodoxy is an attempt to show how we can shape our own identities. I explore how people can escape labeling and be free to define themselves. The goal of self-defining is the existential dream I attempt to chase. Being as elusive as the essence of the human being, art is my most common point of reference.
